Enforcement of the Mold Remediation Scope of Work
The Mold Assessor is responsible for developing a detailed remediation protocol that identifies the extent of mold contamination, required remediation procedures, engineering controls, clearance criteria, and post-remediation verification requirements. The remediation contractor shall perform all work in strict accordance with the approved Scope of Work.
Enforcement of the remediation scope is achieved through periodic site observations, review of contractor compliance, and verification that all specified procedures are being properly implemented. This includes, but is not limited to, the establishment of containment areas, operation of negative air pressure systems, removal of contaminated materials, cleaning of affected surfaces, and correction of underlying moisture sources contributing to mold growth.
Any deviations from the approved Scope of Work must be documented and approved by the Mold Assessor prior to implementation. Failure to comply with the remediation protocol may result in additional corrective actions, re-cleaning, re-remediation, or failure of post-remediation verification testing.
Upon completion of remediation activities, a final inspection and post-remediation assessment shall be conducted to verify that all work has been completed in accordance with the protocol. Clearance will be based upon visual inspection, moisture evaluation, and, when applicable, environmental sampling demonstrating that mold contamination has been successfully addressed and that the affected area has been returned to a normal fungal ecology.
The purpose of enforcement is to ensure regulatory compliance, protect occupant health and safety, verify remediation effectiveness, and provide documented assurance that the project objectives have been achieved.
